  • Computer Basics for Windows Users: Not all leaders are computer experts. A few tips, however, can help leaders move mountains.
    • Copy & Paste: How to copy song lyrics, cheers, skits, driving directions, etc into your word processor and print copies off for your den/patrol in minutes.
    • Graphics Tips: How to copy images and resize them to fit your needs.
    • Internet Search Tips: How to find what you need with search engines.

  • Knots: How to tie the 8 basic scout knots (square, bowline, clove hitch, sheet bend, tautline hitch, timber hitch, sheep shank, and figure 8 loop knots). But do you know when to use them?

  • Official Scouting Websites: Here's a short list of the most needed one's.
    • Boy Scouts of America National Council: check for national news & policy; also online training.
    • BSA Online Catalog: part #'s & prices of uniforms, books, accessories.
      • You can't order online but you can print a shopping list so you can place a phone order with the BSA Scout Store at 701 Wyman Park Drive; Baltimore, MD (410-338-0144). They charge a modest shipping fee.
      • If they're out of something, you can always order from the Valley Forge Scout Shop at 1485 Valley Forge Way; Wayne, PA 19087 (610-989-9626).
    • BSA Baltimore Area Council: check for area news & events. Have online (PDF) copies of Area Scouter (monthly newspaper).
    • BSA Baltimore Area Council Training: check for area training events.
    • Harford District: check for district news & events.
    • Harford District Training: check for district training events schedule.
    • Boy's Life Magazine: has some fun stuff for boy's each month but not indexed for leader's usage.
