2008 White River Trails

Klondike Derby

Hoosier Trails Council, BSA

Text Box: January 11th-13th, Spring Mill State Park

Klondike Sleds:

Each Patrol must have there own sled.  Each sled can be manned by 6-8 scouts.  One scout must be in the sled at all times between events while the others are pushing.

*** NEW THIS YEAR—if there is snow on the ground, wheels will not be allowed.  If there is no snow, wheels will be permitted.  Please make the necessary changes to your sleds to meet these guidelines.

FIRES AND FIREWOOD:

Fires are only allowed within the fire rings.  Each troop is responsible for bringing their own firewood for use within their campsites.  We are not allowed to collect firewood within Spring Mill State Park.

TRADING POST:

Camp Munchie Mutt, our trading post will be open during the Klondike event, and will offer drinks and snack foods for sale.  Remind everyone in your unit to bring spending money if they wish to purchase items from the trading post.  All proceeds from Camp Munchie Mutt go into the District Account to help with awards or other items as needed.

Governor’s Soup:

Each youth attending the Klondike needs to bring one can of soup (NO “CREAM OF” Soups please).  These will be turned in when you check in.  We will use this for our Governor’s Soup.  We will have stations throughout the day Saturday for boys to warm up and drink some soup.

PARK ADMISSION:

A gate fee will be charged for admission to the park.  The gate fee will be the responsibility of each troop.  See gate fees below (as of December 2007):

          Non-commercial vehicles = $5 per vehicle

Commercial vehicles (buses, vans, etc.) = $2 per person

Annual entrance permit = $36

Parent Drop Off/Pick Up = $2 per vehicle, just notify gate attendant.

Registration Packets will be passed out at December
